Dehradun, June 23rd , 2024: Leaning on the widespread love of reading among Doonites, the Booknerds Community was established in 2015. The community , a unique endeavour by co-founders Rohan Raj and Neha Raj, intends to unite book enthusiasts in the valley and provide them with a shared forum for discussing books .The community has hence won the best reading club of India award at Hyderabad Litfest.

This Booknerds Hangout was held at House of Nutmeg ,Dehradun’s first Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant and kickstarted with Founder Rohan Raj welcoming & introducing the author- Mr. Sudipto Das.

An author, musician, columnist, and a speaker at TEDx events, Sudipto Das is an alumnus of
IIT Kharagpur. A violinist, trained in Western classical music, he debuted as a music composer in2014. History, culture, language, and travelling are of special interest to him. Member of an amateur music band, Kohal, Sudipto lives in Bangalore with his family. He is the author of The Ekkos Clan, The Aryabhata Clan and co-author of The Broken Amoretti.

Sudipto Das has written three fiction books before releasing Jagadish Chandra Bose: The Reluctant Physicist, which is his debut nonfiction book. More than fifty years after his passing, Sir J.C. Bose has recently come back to life in a number of sectors. Along with Marconi, Bose was recognised as one of the radio’s inventors in the late 1990s. As far as we are aware, Bose was the first to patent a semiconductor device and the first to use millimetre waves for radio communication—a technique that is currently employed in 5G technology. Researchers studying plant neurobiology discovered that Bose had postulated in the early 1900s that plants were capable of experiencing pain, just like animals and people.

Bose was a living example of a volatile time in Indian history. Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, and two unusual European women are all closely associated with Bose, whose life is a maze of unique interactions that defy conventional explanation.Bose was a contronym—loved and detested by his friends, mythologized and forgotten by his compatriots, and both liked and despised by the English. The goal of this work is to clarify the “Boseian” myth.
The purpose of this event was to honour Indian scientists who have served their country and beyond by bringing together people who are passionate about their memoirs. Through thoughtful discussions and book discussion, participants honoured the Indian scientists and shared insights that deepened understanding of scientific temperament. Highlight of the event was stories narrated by Sudipto Das about Bose,Einstein,Rabindranath Tagore,Marconi,Tesla and more.
